I normally use Python to build API's and AWS for hosting, JS/Node for front-end (Botpress uses JS, so you make a profit). An important point is not to limit yourself to just one programming language, this way you will always have a wider range of options. I recommend Groovy, Java or C#, although I prefer 100x Python and JS.
