from my experience, some times you can write a variable name inside code and it isn't recognized, but it still works. That what happened with me, it works eventhough it couldn't see the variable inside javascript. So I think this isn't a problem. You can try to console.log the variable in a hook or send it as a message to make sure it is being modified
