You can consume the Database from an external API by using FastAPI in Python (https://fastapi.tiangolo.com/) or Express in Javascript (https://expressjs.com/) along with it's respective SDKs (https://supabase.com/docs/guides/api/rest/client-libs). The advantages are that you can manipulate the data in a custom way, and optimize vector search process as needed. I personally use OpenAI Embeddings (https://platform.openai.com/docs/guides/embeddings)
