If you’re a user of Botpress and paying for their “Pay As You Go” plan, you might have recently noticed something frustrating: the mandatory “Powered by Botpress” branding slapped onto every bot you deploy. Unless you’re paying for their “Team” plan, which comes in at a hefty $500 a month, there’s no way to remove this label. This sudden policy shift affects countless users who were previously able to use Botpress without this forced branding. And let’s be clear—this change is unfair and inconsiderate to loyal, paying users like myself.
It Wasn’t Always Like This
Before this policy was implemented, users like me could use Botpress on more affordable plans, including “Pay As You Go”, and still maintain control over the branding of the bots we create for clients. But now, if I don’t shell out $500 every month, all of my clients have to display “Powered by Botpress”, even though I’m already paying for their service.
Paying for What, Exactly?
Here’s the frustrating part: I’m paying Botpress, yet I’m still forced to carry their branding as if I’m using a free or trial version. It’s misleading to clients and makes my business look less professional. More importantly, this feels like an unfair practice for users who are already investing in the platform but aren’t in a position to afford such a large monthly fee.
Many businesses that use Botpress are small or medium-sized, and justifying $500 per month for the sole purpose of removing branding doesn’t make sense for most. I’d happily pay a reasonable monthly fee just to remove the branding, but that option isn’t available.
Not every business using Botpress can afford the top-tier subscription right away, but that doesn’t mean we don’t deserve a clean, professional product. The forced branding penalizes small businesses and startups, who are often on tight budgets but still want to deliver high-quality experiences to their clients.
Botpress, it’s time to reconsider this decision.
