Guys, can I speak with somebody who have experience building and selling bots?
w
Hey man, what particular question do you have? I run an agency that offers chatbots, automations and data analysis
a
Hi, could you please explain your pricing model, of course without any specifications if you don't want to. I'm just wondering how to sell a service if for example I'm going to ask for $1000 to set up a chatbot. How much money will Botpress charge for using this chatbot?
w
No worries, it's good that you are thinking about that @astonishing-teacher-12729 , many people don't take that into the account🙂
I will echo @crooked-van-25152 in terms of factors that influence monthly package, she was spot on.
Just to give mo context, if our the client opts for a subscription and all-inclusive maintenance package, the price will depend on the initial build and estimated usage. For example, a local dentistry will have far less incoming messages than a e-commerce store.
With Botpress, currently you will get 1000 free messages per account, after that you will be charged $0.005 per message, so if your client's chatbot recieves 1000 messages, it would be $5
It will also depend if you are using any external apps, such as Make. If you do, you have to take that into the account
Just to give you an example, for a local travel consultancy firm (if I used just Botpress and nothing else). I would charge between $250-$400/month for a $1000 chatbot in my case
But within that, my agency also includes monthly meeting, data extraction, adjustments, KB updates etc.
In a way, we just become their AI partners in general
a
ok, I think that's something I looked for. Can you answer, how external app, such as Make can affect on the charged price? You mean additional charge from the Make behalf right?
and the purely logical question that comes out of this dialog. How much do you think you should charge a particular client? What parameters do you take into account when making an offer?
w
For example, you would use Make for some sort of automation, such as data collection, email writing etc. Each 'scenario' uses credits which you will need to pay for
There isn't a strict rule or so, but personally I like to set a minimum monthly limit of $250, for very simple chatbots with no extra apps. It usually shouldn't take any more that 10 hours/month of work. You just build on top of that afterwards
a
250 dollars is the price for paying the bill at the end of the month + your income, or is it only your income and you build the bot on the account of the client, who pays for the use (in other words, the 250 dollars does not include payment for credits)?
@wide-oyster-38514 thanks in advance for claryfing all of the things. Really appreciate your help!!!
w
Yes that's just for the maintenance, not the credits. I prefer to create new Botpress account for the client and add myself as a collaborator. That way they feel more in control, there is less confusion managing 1000s of chatbots and they connect their own credit card to their account.
Like I said, it will really depend also on your preference. You don't have to stick to one, you can always adjust and see which option the client prefers.
a
an amazing approach. I prefer to do the same thing. How do you think, from your personal experience, customers have any objections to creating their own account for a chatbot, or are they even happier when you act as a "collaborator" on their own account rather than using a bot created on your personal account?
w
Yes, they either feel 'safer' or don't even care. Even if they want to completely delegate the whole process and not be bothered with managing the account, I would still opt for creating their own account and just managing it from there.
a
Awesome!

I'm going to read these 🔥 @wide-oyster-38514's 🔥 answers so many times!!!! Well done! These may be simple things for you, but not for us new Botpress chatbot builders looking for clients.

Thanks @wide-oyster-38514 for the detailed response
w
No worries at all🙂
